Dr. Claire Choukem is a Cameroonian academic, financial analyst, and governance expert with over 15 years of experience in higher education, administrative leadership, and financial control. She currently serves as the Director of Vatel Business School Douala and holds an extensive background in financial modeling, management control, and academic program development.

As a Non-Executive Director (Board Member) of CFG-Holdings Plc, Dr. Claire Choukem provides strategic guidance on academic partnerships, financial oversight, and governance frameworks. Her deep experience in structuring administrative and financial systems across institutions makes her a valuable contributor to CFG’s long-term vision of building a financially disciplined and impact-driven Pan-African group.

Claire plays a vital role in advising CFG-Holdings on risk management processes, internal controls, performance analysis, and ethical corporate governance. Her academic insight brings a unique research-based approach to organizational development, allowing CFG to craft growth strategies that are both data-driven and locally adapted to African economic contexts.

As a board member, she also supports the evaluation and development of capacity-building initiatives across CFG subsidiaries, especially in training, compliance, and talent development.

Previous Work Experience

Director – Vatel Douala Business School (2022–Present)
Spearheaded the establishment and academic leadership of Vatel’s hospitality and tourism management school in Cameroon. Leads institutional development, curriculum strategy, and operational management aligned with international standards.

Deputy General Director – Institut Universitaire de la Côte (2019–Present)
Oversaw administrative and financial departments, human resources, and academic coordination. Key contributor to strategic growth, internal controls, and policy development.

Director of Administrative & Financial Affairs – Institut Universitaire de la Côte (2011–2018)
Managed finance, human capital, and control systems. Developed tools for performance monitoring, strategic budgeting, and operational compliance.

ISUGA Program Coordinator – EMBA Quimper Partnership (2009–2016)
Designed and managed an international Bachelor’s degree in Asia-focused international trade. Strengthened cross-cultural academic collaboration and student success.

Management Controller – ISTDI (2009–2011)
Implemented cost analysis models, budget forecasting, and process standardization across departments.

Key Achievements

Dr. Choukem is a lecturer and researcher in management control, with a focus on how African organizations adapt and implement financial control tools. She contributes actively to the Association Francophone de la Comptabilité en Afrique and organizes regional academic conferences that promote applied research in African finance and accounting.

She is passionate about combining academic theory with real-world application, especially in helping financial institutions and higher education systems build strong internal governance systems.
